LEAD 17: Engineering Your Leadership Legacy is a strategic introductory presentation designed to bridge the critical gap in the leadership pipeline for assistant principals. It moves administrators from a reactive “firefighting” mindset to a proactive “leadership engineering” lens. The presentation is built on three research-driven pillars: 1. Building a Leadership Legacy: Participants conduct deep self-examination using Emotional Intelligence (EI) and MBTI frameworks to master self-awareness and relationship management. Leaders clarify their “Leadership Why,” pinpoint core values, and draft a Career Planning Matrix to set goals for the next 3 to 12+ months. 2. Engineering the Environment: This module introduces a holistic, systems-thinking approach. Using the Iceberg Model, leaders look beneath daily events to reveal the underlying structures and mental models that drive school culture. They adopt a “Macroscopic View” to understand how school-wide systems interact to impact student success. 3. Leadership by Design:** Leaders establish their unique “17-inch plate”—a foundation of non-negotiable leadership standards. Using Jay Galbraith’s STAR Model**, they align strategy, structure, and people skills to build organizational capacity. All training is explicitly mapped to the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSEL) to ensure measurable impact and facilitate district funding. Participants leave with the foundation of their Next Level Leadership Playbook, a physical three-inch binder that serves as a permanent archive of their leadership platform for the administrative job search. This session utilizes the ARCS model to ensure content is high-interest and immediately applicable to an assistant principal's daily duties.
